As you will probably
discover by reading the questions that follow, sheepskin is unsurpassable
when it comes to both practicality, comfort and maintenance. Sheepskin
is naturally warm in the winter and cool in the summer, relieves pressure
points, protects car seats, and is easy to care for. There are so many
reasons to use sheepskins, the question most people are asking is, "why
not?"
 |
I spilled
something on my sheepskins, how can I clean them? |
 |
Sheepskin
is a machine washable product. Refer to our washing
instructions to find out how simple it is to wash your sheepskins.
In addition to machine washing your skins, some dry cleaners can dry
clean sheepskin. Inquire locally for a dry cleaner near you who has
experience in sheepskin and leather products.

My sheepskins
are looking matted, how can I keep them looking nice? |
 |
Sheepskin is
a low maintenance product. Occasional brushing and vacuuming is
the preferred method of maintenance. Brushing will help restore
the nap, simply use a pet
brush and pull it up in a couple directions. Washing every few
years with is also good for conditioning the skins, though acrylic
backed covers don't hold up through as many washings.
One important
thing you should avoid is getting your covers wet. Minor dampness
that can be wiped up with a towel is fine but leaving the sun roof
open in the rain is a no-no. If your covers appear to be significantly
wet through to the underside of the cover simply remove the covers
and hang dry them away from direct heat (including sun) and they'll
be fine! If you spill something other than water on your covers,
follow the washing instructions.

How long
will my sheepskin seat covers last? |
 |
Sheepskin
wear is determined by usage and grade. A low grade sheepskin in a
low usage seat may last longer than a medium grade on a high usage
seat. The different grades of covers have different average life spans,
for example:
| |
ï Super-fit
covers usually only last 2-3 years*
ï Deluxe about 3-4 years*
ï Australian about 6-8 years*
ï New Zealand seat covers 8-10+ years*
|
Of course the 100%
sheepskin covers are superior in longevity to the acrylic-back/sheepskin-face
covers but all are covered under our exclusive warranty for manufacturer
defects (such as seams or straps) for two years after the original
purchase.
Compared to other seat cover materials, sheepskin is the leader in
durability. For this reason it is also the best protector of your
seats. Acrylic and other synthetics simply don't live nearly as long
as a sheepskin cover since it is a leather product.
* Longevity of seat cover is based on averages and
can be affected by several factors. Therefore we make no claim of
guarantee of life-span beyond the conditions of our 2 year manufacturing
warrantee.

I have
new leather seats, why would I want sheepskin covers? |
 |
Not only is
sheepskin superior in comfort to bare leather in the inch of added
cushioning, but you won't experience the painful hot seat/cold seat
syndrome that leather seats give you on a hot summer day or cold
winter morning.
Leather seats
are a feature that adds a lot to your car's value so the smartest
thing to do is to cover it before it begins to experience wear.
Sheepskin seat covers will protect your leather seats and keep the
resale value of your car higher. The cost of reupholstering leather
seats can be very steep and sheepskin is the preventative answer.

 |
Are sheepskins
REALLY warm in the winter and cool in the summer? |
 |
Sheepskin
is a natural insulator which works to create a space of air between
you and your seat that heats to your body temperature in little time.
The same action of air flow that warms will also keep you cool in
the summer. By creating that space, air is trapped between you and
the seat so that you are kept cooler than vinyl, leather or even cloth.
Of course, the best cooling feature is demonstrated in the hot summer
parking lot. When leather or vinyl would cause you constant shifting
in your sun bathed seats, sheepskin allows you to get in and go without
that irritating process of cooling your seats. You might consider
a sheepskin steering
wheel cover for the same reason! The wool fleece is also a natural
wicking agent, wicking perspiration away so that your car doesn't
become your sauna.

Which
cover will fit my car? |
 |
The
vast majority of cars are bucket seats, but some cars are more contoured
or have special features that require some custom fitting. For an
idea of which covers will fit best refer to the chart on our seat
covers page. You are always welcome to call or e-mail
us with an inquiry about which covers are best for your car.

 |
I have
side impact airbags, can I still have sheepskin covers? |
 |
Pre-made
seat covers are not compatible with side impact airbags which discharge
from the sides of a car's front seats. When a car comes with this
feature it is indicated somewhere on the side of the seat. Only Sheepskin
Of Oregon will tailor seat covers to leave the airbag side of your
seat exposed. If you have side impact airbags, notify us with your
order and we will make the appropriate adjustments. Airbag adjustments
are only possible on 100% sheepskin covers (Australian and New Zealand
styles) at a low additional cost of $10 per seat. |
